I've never had braces. My teeth are pretty straight and I sure hope to pass on those genes to my own kiddos, but the hubs had to wear braces as a kid, so I thought it'd be a good idea to get some information on all the options available for if and when the time comes for our children to need some teeth straightening. Before this party, I wasn't too sure what Invisalign was or what the benefits were in comparison to traditional braces. So, if you aren't sure either, here ya go: Invisalign are clear aligners that straighten teeth without traditional wires and brackets! I personally think this is such a great option for teens! It can give them the confidence they need to improve their smile without the mouth full of metal or other issues that come along with traditional braces. For example, teens can play sports without fear of injury, as well as playing musical instruments without interference. And because it's removable, brushing and flossing is easy and there are no food restrictions to worry about either. Invisalign Teen is just as effective as traditional wire and bracket braces and can correct the most common teeth straitening issues -- from severe cases to more minor, cosmetic adjustments. Not all orthodontists specialize in Invisalign Teen. Visit www.invisalign.com and select "find a doctor" to locate experienced Invisalign and Invisalign Teen doctors in your area.
Of course, as parents and living in the real world, the question now is, how much does it cost? I was really surprised to learn that Invisalign Teen costs about the same as braces and it's covered by most dental insurance policies just like traditional braces! Other perks of Invisalign Teen is that teens are actually more compliant in wearing their aligners than adults, and they don't lose them very often either, but just in case, they include up to six free replacement aligners. They also come with small blue dots, officially called compliance indicators, that gradually fade as aligners are worn. It's a quick visual check for doctors, teens and parents to confirm aligners are being worn enough to get results ;) Take the Invisalign Smile Assessment to find out if Invisalign is right for you or your child!
