Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation | Running for a Cure

So, as I mentioned in a previous post, I'm really excited to be traveling to Florida to run in Disney's Wine & Dine Half Marathon this November.  What I didn't mention then was that I'll be running as part of Team Lemon for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.  Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope.Their mission is to raise money and awareness of childhood cancer causes, primarily research into new treatments and cures.  Also to encourage and empower others, especially children, to get involved and make a difference for children with cancer.  You can read more about their history, their mission, and how you can get involved on their website.

One way they help raise money and awareness is by teaming up with RunDisney's charity group program which provides runners an opportunity support a charitable organization while running in a RunDisney event.

This will be my first time running a half marathon as part of a charitable team and I'm really looking forward to it!  Knowing that I'm running for a good cause is really exciting and fulfilling.

Have you ever ran for for a cause or for a charity before?
